Connected by CarePortal Logo-App_Full Color.png

Connecting you to the child in need.

Every community has children and families facing urgent needs, and people who are ready to help. CarePortal is the bridge that connects those willing to serve with those who need it most, right in their own neighborhoods.

How does CarePortal work?

CarePortal is a technology platform that connects vulnerable children and families to people who have something to give. Social workers uncover the needs. CarePortal makes local churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond while offering a local, meaningful connection.

Who does CarePortal help?

Children and families.

First and foremost, CarePortal exists to help hurting children and families. All requests submitted through CarePortal come from caseworkers at government child welfare agencies or other child-serving organizations approved by CarePortal to vet needs.

Caseworkers.

Child welfare professionals are on the front lines for children and families every day. CarePortal connects them to a caring community eager to stand behind them and provide them with resources to be more effective and efficient.

Churches and Ministries.

Many churches and foster/adopt ministries want to do more, but simply lack the connection to vulnerable and isolated families in their community. CarePortal fills that gap.

Need to Neighbor: Alma’s Story

A few years ago, our Reaching Higher staff noticed that one of our students became emotional during a financial literacy lesson. The topic brought unexpected emotion — and it led us to discover that the student’s family was struggling at home.

We soon learned that Alma, a single mother who had recently overcome homelessness, had just secured a home for her children but had very little inside it — she needed essential household furnishings to help create a more comfortable and functional living space for her children.

Through the CarePortal platform, our team collaborated with a local church to enter a need on behalf of Alma and her children. Almost immediately, church responders stepped in—providing beds for the kids, a grocery gift card, and a gently used dining table so the family could share meals and the children could do their homework.

But the story didn’t end there. Alma was determined to move forward. She shared that she was eager to find a job but wasn’t sure how to complete online applications. Our Reaching Higher staff came alongside her, helping her apply — and by the grace of God, she was hired at Ross, where she has now been employed for two years.

Today, Alma not only continues to work at Ross but also serves in our Reaching Higher afterschool program, pouring back into the same community that once supported her family. She even helps deliver beds and tangible items to other families in need — a living example of the Circle of Care, where those once helped become helpers themselves.

This is what happens when the Church and community come together through CarePortal. When we say “yes” to meeting a need, we do more than provide things — we help build hope, restore dignity, and remind families that they’re not alone.
